[Asia Economy Reporter Kim So-young] Democratic Party lawmaker Kang Hoon-sik responded to People Power Party presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol, who raised his voice against the Moon Jae-in administration by saying, "They brought in ignorant third-rate fools and ruined the economy, diplomacy, and security," by saying, "We may not know about other things, but we do reflect on having used an ignorant third-rate fool as Prosecutor General."
On the 31st, Kang appeared on KBS Radio's 'Choi Kyung-young's Strongest Current Affairs' and said, "(Candidate Yoon) seems to be intensifying negative attacks as his approval ratings drop, but that is a second-place strategy."
He added, "There has never been a case where a president was elected through negativity. Adding color politics on top of that is even anachronistic," and said, "There is not a trace of presidential dignity to be found, and rather, I think people can only see the image of the Prosecutor General and violent behavior, which makes me worry that the public might be even more fearful."
He continued, "I understand the opposition candidate's position that the administration should be judged, but making very inappropriate remarks day after day while we are choosing the future president to entrust for another five years is unacceptable," he criticized.
Regarding Yoon's description of Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung as a 'serious criminal,' Kang said, "It shows what kind of perception he usually has toward people," and sharpened his words, saying, "Using expressions like 'ridiculous' and 'pathetic' in debates with candidates might be acceptable for a Prosecutor General at meetings of chief prosecutors, but this is a very serious matter for a presidential candidate."
Earlier, on the 30th, at the launch ceremony of the Gyeongbuk Election Countermeasures Committee held in Andong, Gyeongbuk, candidate Yoon criticized, "The Democratic Party administration should hand over power gracefully and step down," adding, "They brought in ignorant third-rate fools to politics, ruining the economy, diplomacy, and security, and beyond incompetence, they are conducting surveillance like the past authoritarian dictatorship governments."
