Business Community United in "Arming with a Spirit of Challenge"

With the increasingly severe COVID-19 situation and geopolitical conflicts erupting worldwide impacting not only politics and security but also the economy and industry, there is a determination to revive Korea's unique spirit of challenge and become a ‘global game changer.’
On the 31st, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won emphasized in a New Year's greeting email to employees that "SK’s major businesses are national strategic assets at the center of global hegemony competition," adding, "(In such times) the destiny of a company is not to be a champion but a challenger." Referring to the increasingly serious climate change crisis, he expressed confidence in "innovating business models (BM) to lead future low-carbon and eco-friendly businesses," urging everyone to "become ‘pioneers of a new era’ who lead the future with a great spirit of challenge." ▷Related article on page 3
GS Group Chairman Hur Tae-soo also encouraged a pioneering and challenging spirit, stating, "In an era of faster changes and greater uncertainty than ever, to move toward future growth, we must expand a business ecosystem that cooperates with diverse business partners." Hyundai Heavy Industries Group Chairman Kwon Oh-gap likewise said, "As we begin the next 50 years, it must be a time to create new value through innovation," adding, "The key word for 2022 is ‘value creation through innovation,’ specifically requiring innovation in business structure, mindset, technology, and systems."
