Once Leading by 20%, Regime Change Theory Falls Behind National Judgment Theory
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] A poll released on the 30th showed that the argument for government stability is ahead of the argument for government judgment. Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, led Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, by 11 percentage points in approval ratings.
According to a poll conducted from the 27th to the 29th by four polling agencies?Embrain, K-stat, Korea Research, and Hankook Research?surveying 1,000 men and women aged 18 and over, the argument for government stability stood at 45%, surpassing the 40% for the argument for government judgment. Until now, the argument for government judgment had been ahead of government stability, but the recent trend has reversed.
Even in the November NBS poll, there was a survey showing that the argument for regime change led the argument for government stability by 20 percentage points, but the public opinion landscape has changed rapidly.
In terms of presidential candidate support, Lee’s approval rating rose 4 percentage points from last week’s survey to 39%, while Yoon’s approval rating fell by 1 percentage point to 28%. Ahn Cheol-soo, the presidential candidate of the People’s Party, remained at 6%, and Sim Sang-jung, the presidential candidate of the Justice Party, stayed at 5%.
Regarding the outlook for election victory, Lee was at 46%, Yoon at 30%, and Ahn at 1%.
This survey was conducted via telephone interviews using virtual mobile phone numbers (100%). The sampling error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level. For more details, please refer to the Central Election Poll Deliberation Commission website.
