[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] Actress Kim Bu-seon (60) announced that she will withdraw the complaint against Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, for violating the Public Official Election Act. She also stated that she will retract her support for Yoon Seok-youl, the People Power Party presidential candidate.
On the 22nd, Kim posted on her Facebook, "I filed a complaint against Lee Jae-myung for violating the Public Official Election Act, but I am going to withdraw it," explaining, "Because I no longer want to sacrifice myself for the wealth and glory of people like Kang Yong-seok, Jo Soo-jin, Kim Gun-hee, and Sung Il-jong. Also, it concerns my private life from long ago."
She then mentioned candidate Yoon, saying, "I am very disappointed in candidate Yoon Seok-youl, who lacks even a sense of public responsibility. On portals, people called him the neighborhood fool, which I found strange, but he really is a fool," she criticized.
She added, "These days, people in their 30s say they abstain from voting because there is no candidate to vote for, and I am abstaining too. No, I have surrendered. You have won again. I was used like a fool again. I feel very bitter."
Earlier, on the 15th, Kim stated, "I am officially filing a complaint against Lee Jae-myung for violating the election law. I asked Lee’s sister-in-law Park In-bok to join the complaint, but she was in a difficult situation due to her daughter's marriage and childbirth, so I was hesitant about the complaint."
On the previous day (the 23rd), she claimed that supporters of candidate Yoon impersonated her and posted defamatory comments against candidate Lee, leaving a message saying, "Fake patriotic right-wing bugs, thanks to you I am withdrawing my support for Yoon Seok-youl."
Meanwhile, Kim has claimed since 2007 that she had an extramarital affair with candidate Lee for about a year, and in September 2018, she filed a 300 million won damages lawsuit against him. Attorney Kang was handling the damages lawsuit filed by Kim against candidate Lee.
However, the hearing scheduled for the 10th of last month was postponed to the 5th of the following month after the defense lawyer for candidate Lee submitted a request to change the date, which was accepted.
Kim also filed complaints against candidate Lee for violations of the Public Official Election Act and the Information and Communications Network Act, but the prosecution decided not to indict on the Public Official Election Act violation charge, stating that no evidence sufficient to prove the scandal was found.
