The PonyJeong Foundation announced that it held the 'Seoul National University Development Fund Appreciation Plaque Ceremony' at the Seoul National University Administration Building on the 23rd.

Last year, the PonyJeong Foundation launched the 'PonyJeong Humanities School' project in collaboration with the East Asian Culture Research Institute of the Seoul National University Institute of Humanities, continuing to support East Asian studies research with an annual fund of 100 million KRW.

This year, the project has been extended for three years, allowing for continuity and systematic support of research. Over the next three years, a total fund of 300 million KRW will be provided to expand opportunities for high-quality humanities lecture content production and academic exchanges among researchers, share and communicate project outcomes with the public, and strengthen its identity as a 'Humanities School.'

Considering the spread of COVID-19, only a minimal number of attendees were present at the ceremony, including PonyJeong Foundation Chairman Chung Mong-gyu, Seoul National University President Oh Se-jung, Dean of the College of Humanities Lee Seok-jae, Director of the East Asian Culture Research Institute Kim Byung-jun, and Executive Director of the Development Fund Chae Jun.

At the event, Chairman Chung said, "I hope that the 'PonyJeong Humanities School' program, which has continued since 2020, will contribute to the development and dissemination of East Asian studies research."

Seoul National University President Oh Se-jung expressed his gratitude, stating, "The fund donated by the PonyJeong Foundation will be valuable in enhancing research capabilities and nurturing talent through in-depth interdisciplinary research and diverse academic exchanges at the East Asian Culture Research Institute of Seoul National University," while presenting the appreciation plaque.

Since its establishment in 2005, the PonyJeong Foundation has continued scholarship, academic, and award projects, inheriting the philosophy of promoting basic academic disciplines and nurturing talent of the late Chung Se-young, Honorary Chairman of HDC Group (formerly Hyundai Development Company).
