Citibank Korea and Sinsaneun Johap Hold '2021 Korea Social Enterprise Awards' Ceremony

[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-seop] Korea Citibank announced on the 24th that it held the ‘2021 Korea Social Enterprise Awards’ ceremony in collaboration with the social economy platform Synnaraejoap.

The awards ceremony, held the previous day at Social Campus On in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, was established in 2017 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Citigroup's entry into Korea. Sponsored by Korea Citibank and organized by Synnaraejoap, its purpose is to discover and encourage outstanding social enterprises and to revitalize related companies.

The award categories were divided into three: job creation, social innovation, and growth. Among 113 companies that applied, the selection process included document screening, on-site inspection, company presentations, and a final review by an expert judging panel. The companies selected were those providing jobs to vulnerable groups and contributing to regional economic development in various fields. Awarded companies received a plaque and a prize of 10 million KRW.

In his congratulatory speech, Myung Soomoon, President of Korea Citibank, said, “I hope this event today will help social enterprises, which are doing their best amid difficult economic and social conditions, to continue developing,” and emphasized, “We will continue long-term support according to our social contribution principles so that social enterprises can grow stably and enhance social value.”
