[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] Actor Bae Sung-woo, who stepped down from a drama last year due to a drunk driving controversy, is returning to film after one year.

A representative from his agency Artist Company told Asia Economy on the 23rd, "After much consideration, Bae Sung-woo has decided to appear in the movie 'The Secret That Cannot Be Told.' He acknowledges his mistake, is reflecting on it, and will show a renewed dedication to acting with a fresh mindset."

'The Secret That Cannot Be Told' (directed by Seo Yoo-min) is a remake of the 2008 Taiwanese film of the same name, starring actors Do Kyung-soo (D.O.) and Won Jin-ah. Bae Sung-woo plays the role of Do Kyung-soo's father and teacher.

Previously, in November last year, Bae Sung-woo was caught driving after drinking with acquaintances in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. He was detected with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08% or higher, which is the level for license cancellation, sparking controversy.

He was summarily indicted on charges of drunk driving and received a fine of 7 million won in February, after which he has been keeping a low profile. He withdrew from the SBS drama 'Fly, Gaechonyong,' and actor Jung Woo-sung was brought in as a replacement to complete the remaining scenes.
