[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] Won Hee-ryong, former governor of Jeju and head of policy at the People Power Party's election committee, raised questions about the death of Kim Moon-gi, head of Division 1 at Seongnam Urban Development Corporation, and called for a thorough investigation.

On the 21st, Won posted on his Facebook, speculating about the background of Kim Moon-gi's death, saying, "It seems that pressure, including lobbying allegations, intensified from Hwacheon Daeyu," and added, "It appears to be the aftermath of Kim Jin-guk, the Blue House senior secretary for civil affairs, trying strongly and principled to uncover the truth."

He further claimed that Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, was behind Kim's resignation. Won said, "It seems that Lee's side exposed issues related to Kim's son to get rid of him," and added, "It was apparently well known that the son was ill."

Won also mentioned Yoo Han-gi, the late head of the Development Project Headquarters at Seongnam Urban Development Corporation, and Yoo Dong-gyu, former head of planning at the same corporation, who had attempted suicide. He said, "How many people are they driving to death to cover up the truth?" and emphasized, "No matter how many people die, the truth can never be covered up."

On the same day, Won posted another message urging a thorough investigation into the series of deaths related to the Daejang-dong development preferential treatment allegations. He stated, "It may be that the psychological pressure came from phone calls or social network service (SNS) interactions just before the final choice," and added, "There is suspicion that an invisible hand is at work behind the chain of deaths."

He stressed, "To prevent a third death, a thorough investigation including forensic analysis of Yoo Han-gi's and Kim Moon-gi's mobile phones is obviously necessary."

Meanwhile, media reports the previous day revealed that Kim's son had submitted job applications to several companies with statements such as "My father is Kim Jin-guk, senior secretary for civil affairs," and "My father will provide a lot of help." Following the controversy over unfairness, Kim tendered his resignation immediately upon arriving at work on the 21st.
