[2022 Regular Admission] Samyuk University CSAT-Based Screening, Cross-Application Allowed for Humanities and Sciences Majors

[2022 Regular Admission] Samyuk University CSAT-Based Screening, Cross-Application Allowed for Humanities and Sciences Majors

Sahmyook University will select 375 students in groups A and C through the regular admissions for the 2022 academic year. This accounts for 30.7% of the total recruitment, an increase of 51 students (3.9 percentage points) compared to last year. Starting this year, 14 students will also be admitted to the integrated 6-year Pharmacy program. Students will be selected based on the CSAT scores across all departments, and cross-application between humanities and natural sciences is allowed.

The CSAT scores considered include four areas: Korean, Mathematics, English, and one subject from the Social Studies/Science section. The weighting for each area is △ Humanities: Korean 30%, Mathematics 25%, English 25%, Social Studies/Science 20% △ Natural Sciences: Korean 20%, Mathematics 30%, English 25%, Social Studies/Science 25%.

English scores are applied differentially from 100 to 0 points according to Sahmyook University’s conversion table (except for Music and Art & Design departments). Applicants who took the Korean History exam receive additional points up to 5 points (for grades 1 to 3). Korean History can also substitute for the Social Studies/Science section. Natural science applicants who choose Calculus or Geometry receive an additional 5% of their earned score added to their Mathematics score.

The Pharmacy department transitioned to an undergraduate program starting in 2022, admitting 12 students through the general admission and 2 from rural areas. The weighting is Korean 25%, Mathematics 30%, English 25%, and one subject from Social Studies/Science 20%. An additional 5% of the earned score in Calculus or Geometry is added, and if a science subject is chosen, an extra 3% is granted. Although additional points are given to those who took Korean History, substitution with Social Studies/Science is not allowed.

Departments such as Physical Education, Art & Design, and Music, which belong to the arts and physical education category, consider 60% CSAT scores and 40% practical skills. Among Korean, Mathematics, English, and one Social Studies/Science subject, the top two areas are reflected. The Physical Education department uses CSAT percentiles, while the Art & Design and Music departments apply their own conversion scores based on grades for all subjects. The score difference between grades 1 to 6 is only 2 points, so the final decision depends on practical skills.

Application submission for groups A and C is from December 30 to January 3, document submission is due by 5 PM on January 4, and the announcement of successful candidates is on January 27.
