[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Professor Han Seung-hoon (61) of the Department of Police Administration at Dongshin University has been elected as the 29th President of the Korean Association of Public Law.
According to Dongshin University on the 20th, Professor Han was elected as the new president at the '78th Academic Conference and General Assembly of the Korean Association of Public Law' held at Dongshin University's Together Hall on the 17th.
President Han stated, "We will expand the scope of the association beyond domestic academic conferences to international academic conferences," adding, "Through this, we will develop the Korean Association of Public Law into an organization with international prestige."
He continued, "We are exchanging with scholars from Germany and Japan, whose legal systems are similar to ours," emphasizing, "We will further expand these exchanges and achieve academic development through broad information and expertise on law."
He also said, "We will enhance the quality of the 'Korean Association of Public Law Journal,' which has been promoted to a domestic academic journal registered with the National Research Foundation of Korea, to improve research on public law," adding, "We will strive to support the academic research of emerging public law scholars."
He expressed his determination to improve the quality of academic conferences to increase research achievements and to do his best in the supplementary role of fostering camaraderie among scholars in the field of public law.
President Han has been a professor in the Department of Police Administration at Dongshin University since 2014 and has served as a member of the Compensation Committee of the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency, a civil mediation committee member at the Gwangju District Court, and as an executive director and vice president of the Korean Association of Public Law and the Korean Law Association.
He also provides legal advisory services to various civil society organizations, including as an advisory member of the 'Citizens' Group with Grandmothers of the Forced Labor Military Comfort Women' and as a member of the 'Anti-Corruption Committee,' and has recently been focusing on research in the field of legal theory.
President Han's term will last for one year until December 31, 2022.
Meanwhile, the Korean Association of Public Law has about 300 members, including scholars and experts in domestic public law fields such as constitutional law, administrative law, and international law.
