[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, who toured frontline military units, expressed his intention to improve the treatment related to the military.

On the 20th, Candidate Yoon visited the Baekgol Unit of the 3rd Army Division in Cheorwon County, Gangwon Province, and had lunch with the families of the soldiers stationed there. Afterwards, he toured public postpartum care centers in the Cheorwon area. After visiting the public postpartum care centers, Candidate Yoon told reporters, "Seeing the soldiers and our officers working hard at the frontlines, I felt grateful and thought that all of our people should help so that they can work in a better environment."

He mentioned, "In the long term, I felt more strongly that we need to transform military facilities into a modern advanced country style by grouping them into a large base concept as a civilian-military complex town, where our soldiers and their families can live on the base and use various convenience facilities such as hospitals, libraries, and schools."

Earlier, during his visit to the Baekgol Unit, Candidate Yoon stated, "I will do my best to provide appropriate treatment to the military personnel who are loyal to the country and strive to protect it despite difficult conditions."

Candidate Yoon also asked the soldiers detailed questions about military life, such as "What would you like to see changed?", "How is the food?", and "How often do you get leave?".

Regarding the public postpartum care center in Cheorwon County, Candidate Yoon said, "Although many residents of the Cheorwon area use it, there is no obstetrician-gynecologist here either. There were many difficulties with childbirth and postpartum care, but I am very glad that a budget was invested to build such a modern facility and that an obstetrician-gynecologist was brought in from the nearby Cheorwon Hospital." He added, "I thought that this public care center should become a model nationwide and that such facilities should be continuously developed in the future."

Candidate Yoon planned to visit and encourage the Gwangjeok 119 Safety Center in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, which responded urgently the previous day to a COVID-19 positive pregnant woman who gave birth in an ambulance.
