[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Yoo Doo-seok) announced on the 20th that it received the Progress Award in the '2021 General Waterworks Operation and Management Evaluation' hosted by the Ministry of Environment.
Earlier this month, the county also received the Progress Award in the public sewage sector operation and management evaluation.
This year's evaluation was conducted as an in-depth assessment of 27 items across 3 categories targeting 168 institutions nationwide registered as general waterworks operators.
The county achieved high scores across overall water supply management, including ▲ aging pipeline improvement ▲ water quality standard management ▲ government policy implementation.
A county official said, "It is meaningful to achieve excellent results consecutively in both the public sewage and general waterworks sectors," adding, "Since water management is directly linked to residents' health and ecological environment protection, we will continuously strive to ensure sound water management."
Meanwhile, the county plans to build a smart pipeline management infrastructure to strengthen prevention and response capabilities for water supply accidents, and will continue to promote the local waterworks modernization project and aging water pipe replacement project to supply clean tap water.
