[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation announced on the 20th that it will release a "Tiger Banknote-shaped Silver Medal" to commemorate the Year of the Tiger in 2022 (Im In Year, 壬寅年).
This medal is the first product in a series themed on the 12 zodiac signs and was planned with the intention of "sharing the energy of the Tiger in the Im In Year."
The banknote-shaped medal is produced by spreading metal thinly and widely like a banknote and embossing it with a specially engraved mold.
The "Tiger Banknote-shaped Silver Medal," produced using this method, features a delicate expression that maximizes the details of the tiger.
The front side depicts a tiger walking alone through a rugged mountain range, while the back side is designed in the form of a certificate guaranteeing the product specifications, highlighting the characteristics of the banknote-shaped medal.
Additionally, a packaging package made of high-quality materials used in Hanbok is applied, making it suitable as a gift.
The medal size is the same as the 50,000 won banknote (width 154mm, height 68mm), made of pure silver (Ag999) with a weight of 10g, and the selling price (including VAT) is 110,000 won per piece.
Purchases can be made through the Minting Corporation's online shopping mall. The Tiger Banknote-shaped Silver Medal is a regularly sold product, and the first batch of 1,000 pieces will be delivered before the Lunar New Year holiday next year.
