[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] CU announced on the 20th that it has launched its private brand (PB) kimchi, 'Heyru Kimchi Deuktem,' following ultra-low-priced instant rice and bagged ramen.
Heyru Kimchi Deuktem is a large-capacity product weighing 1.9kg, equivalent to about one and a half heads of napa cabbage. The average price of kimchi currently sold at convenience stores is 161 KRW per 10g, but this product is priced at about one-quarter of the average price.
All ingredients, including napa cabbage, salt, red pepper powder, fish sauce, ginger, and garlic, are carefully selected domestic agricultural products. To achieve a refreshing and clean taste, a low-temperature fermentation method at a consistent temperature is maintained.
A BGF Retail official said, “We planned a product that ensures both quality and price so that customers can enjoy kimchi with peace of mind,” adding, “We will continue to introduce various cost-effective products so that customers can prepare economical and hearty meals through convenience store shopping.”
