[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] On the 17th, the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency held the inauguration ceremony of the 35th Chief Lee Sang-ryul of the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency via video conference.
Chief Lee, a native of Gimhae, Gyeongnam, graduated from the Korean National Police University (4th class) and first connected with the Gyeongnam police as a commander of the riot police in 1996. He has since served in various public information roles for several years, including head of the intelligence division at the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency, head of the Intelligence Division 1 at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, Police Policy Officer at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and Deputy Commissioner for Public Safety at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
Chief Lee stated, "The Gyeongnam police must be a true protector of residents and a guardian of human rights, becoming a strong and reliable neighborhood police force on the ground," adding, "All public safety policies should be formulated from the residents' perspective and fully reflect their demands."
He also emphasized, "Along with completing police reform tasks such as cultivating investigative capabilities and settling the autonomous police system, we must become a police force trusted by residents through confident, consistent, and dignified law enforcement."
Finally, he said, "The police are the field itself, and the police live when the field thrives," promising, "We will always communicate with the field and do our best to support its success."
