[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Korean Air and the Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 17th that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for cooperation in the development of the national tourism industry.
The agreement, held at Korean Air headquarters in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, was attended by Korean Air President Woo Ki-hong, Korea Tourism Organization President Ahn Young-bae, and other officials from both organizations. It aims to maximize synergy by combining Korean Air’s global network and differentiated customer service with the Korea Tourism Organization’s accumulated tourism expertise and high-quality content to attract overseas travelers.
According to the agreement, Korean Air will utilize various data from the Korea Tourism Organization’s foreign language websites to expand actual inbound demand through marketing activities tailored to foreign interests. Korean Air plans to feature Korea Tourism Organization’s tourism attractions and travel destinations in its Skypass member newsletter, official social network service (SNS) channels, and in-flight magazine Morning Calm to stimulate foreigners’ desire to travel to Korea.
Korean Air will also screen the Korea Tourism Organization’s viral promotional video “Feel the Rhythm of Korea” on its in-flight video-on-demand system. Additionally, Korean Air and the Korea Tourism Organization will collaborate on producing advertisements and content to promote Korea’s national brand, jointly participate in offline travel fairs, and cooperate on developing new routes.
At the MOU signing ceremony, Korean Air President Woo Ki-hong said, “We must prepare in advance so that the travel demand recovering after COVID-19 will be directed toward Korea.” He added, “This cooperation will encourage overseas travelers to visit Korea and bring new vitality to the aviation and travel industries that have been stagnant.”
