Expansion of Resident-Led Urban Regeneration New Deal Project Areas
Seosang-myeon Daenam-ri Area Selected for Urban Regeneration Preliminary Project
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Daenam-ri area in Seosang-myeon, Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam, was finally selected as a preliminary project site for urban regeneration by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on the 17th.
This marks the sixth urban regeneration contest project led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, following the initial selection of the Yongpyeong-ri general neighborhood-type New Deal project in 2018, the Indang Village preliminary and New Deal projects, and the Anui-myeon preliminary and New Deal projects.
The Hamyang-gun Seosang-myeon Daenam-ri (53,397㎡) project, named "Namdeokyusan Gateway Village, Seosang Coexisting Independently," has been underway since 2022 as a preliminary project with a total budget of 220 million KRW.
This preliminary project consists of unit projects such as ▲establishing a support center by residents themselves ▲resource survey and capacity building by residents themselves ▲archiving by residents themselves ▲a small village community festival to continue history by residents themselves ▲a home repair school by residents themselves, and is planned to proceed as a pre-startup phase for the main urban regeneration New Deal project to be promoted in future contests.
Following the urban regeneration strategic plan, the upper-level plan, Hamyang-gun promoted urban regeneration preliminary and New Deal project contests targeting ▲Yongpyeong-ri, Hamyang-eup in 2018 ▲Indang Village, Hamyang-eup in 2019 ▲Dangbon-ri, Anui-myeon in 2020.
With the selection of the Seosang-myeon urban regeneration preliminary project contest this time, it is expected that the promotion of the urban regeneration New Deal project will gain further momentum.
Son Jae-hyun, director of the Hamyang-gun Urban Regeneration Support Center, said, "Urban regeneration is about people. We will do our best for the Seosang-myeon urban regeneration project where people and resources harmonize."
A county official said, "We have successfully taken the first step of the urban regeneration New Deal project that the residents of Seosang-myeon can create together," adding, "We will do our best to revitalize Seosang-myeon, the gateway to Namdeokyusan, to become the cornerstone for building the future 100-year value of Hamyang."
