Cyworld Launches 'Cyworld Hancom Town' Today... Minihompy Revival Not Yet

[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] The native social networking service (SNS) Cyworld is making a comeback after 2 years and 2 months.

Cyworld operator Cyworld Z announced on the 17th that it will start the beta service of the metaverse space 'Cyworld Hancom Town.' The service will begin at 3:42 PM on the same day.

'Cyworld Hancom Town' is a metaverse platform jointly developed by Cyworld Z and Hancom, connected through Cyworld.

Cyworld Hancom Town is a metaverse platform that supports online meeting spaces, consisting of 'My Room,' which allows small meetings with up to 10 invitees, and 'Square,' where up to 500 people can connect to hold large-scale events or seminars. Users can communicate in real-time via video conferencing and chat, and share 'My Room' and 'Square' through email and invitation links.

Cyworld Z decided to release the beta service of Cyworld Hancom Town first, ahead of the app launch, due to delays in the Cyworld app review process.

Kim Taehoon, CEO of Cyworld Hancom Town, said, "Opening the beta version of Cyworld Hancom Town step-by-step starting today is to keep our promise with members," adding, "Once Cyworld Hancom Town connects with Cyworld next week, it will establish itself as the first domestic metaverse for the 20s to 40s generation."
