aT "Increasing Consumption of Domestic Wheat and Soybeans to Practice Carbon Neutrality"

[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] The Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) and the Korean Dietitians Association announced on the 17th that they have signed a business agreement to practice carbon neutrality by promoting the consumption of domestically produced wheat and soybeans.

Through this agreement, the two organizations decided to promote the consumption of domestic wheat and soybeans to establish a foundation for supplying low-carbon healthy food and to build a cooperative relationship for practicing carbon neutrality. To this end, they will establish a supply system plan to utilize domestic wheat and soybeans as ingredients for public meals and also work to expand consumption through nationwide promotion of domestic wheat and soybeans.

Additionally, both parties will launch the 'Korea Green Food Day Campaign' to practice Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management and promote the spread of low-carbon dietary habits.

Wheat and soybeans have a high dependence on imports, and significant greenhouse gas emissions occur during the import and transportation processes. aT expects that by joining forces to expand the consumption of domestic wheat and soybeans, they can provide healthy food to the public while contributing to carbon neutrality.

The Korea Green Food Day Campaign is a low-carbon dietary campaign aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions generated throughout the entire process from food production to consumption. Along with the campaign, they plan to promote a healthy food culture and improve public health through low-carbon diets using alternative meat made from domestic soybeans.

Previously, aT also signed a business agreement with Gyeongsangbuk-do Province to spread a low-carbon dietary culture and revitalize the local economy. Through the agreement, the two organizations will cooperate on ▲ promoting and publicizing Korea Green Food Day and practicing ESG values ▲ activating online distribution of local agricultural, fishery, and livestock products and supporting overseas market access ▲ improving awareness of the climate crisis and promoting carbon-neutral lifestyles ▲ strengthening the competitiveness of food and dining companies.

Kim Chunjin, president of aT, said, "To expand the consumption base of major grains such as wheat and soybeans, we will join forces with the Korean Dietitians Association to promote the consumption of domestic wheat and soybeans for food security and carbon neutrality."
