[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Han Dong-hoon, Deputy Director of the Judicial Research and Training Institute (Chief Prosecutor), filed a complaint with the police on the 16th against Hwang Hee-seok, Supreme Council Member of the Open Democratic Party, who claimed that "(the prosecution) opened the account of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation to catch Yoo Si-min and influence the general election."
According to the legal community, Chief Prosecutor Han submitted a complaint to the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul on the same day, alleging that Supreme Council Member Hwang spread false information.
Supreme Council Member Hwang appeared on the TBS YouTube channel 'Yujeong Dabang in front of the National Assembly' on the 22nd of last month and claimed, "(The prosecution) tracked the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation's account from September to October 2019, opened all transaction details, and in the process, shared information with a Channel A reporter through SillaJen to catch Yoo Si-min, which is so-called collusion between prosecution and media."
Chief Prosecutor Han was the head of the Anti-Corruption and Strong Crime Division at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office in 2019. He emphasized, "It has been confirmed through investigation that there was absolutely no tracking of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation or Yoo Si-min's accounts," and added, "Yoo Si-min personally apologized last January and is currently on trial for the crime of spreading false information."
Former Director of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation Yoo Si-min made statements to the effect that "the Supreme Prosecutors' Office Anti-Corruption and Strong Crime Division illegally tracked his and the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation's accounts in late November or early December 2019" during an interview on the YouTube channel 'Alileo' in December 2019 and on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' in April and July of last year. He is currently on trial for defaming Chief Prosecutor Han.
