Saltlux "Knowledge Learning and Relation Extraction Technology Competes at Stanford University... Achieves World’s Best Performance"

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Saltlux Saltlux, a leading company in artificial intelligence, which is in charge of the second sub-team of Exobrain, announced on the 14th that it ranked first in the performance competition of the Stanford University TACRED Benchmarks Relation Extraction dataset, a world-renowned authority in the field of natural language processing.


Relation extraction refers to the task of identifying and extracting relationships between entities within a sentence. It is a core element used in building knowledge bases and knowledge learning.


According to the AI specialized site PaperWithCode, as of the 13th, the Exobrain second sub-project, in which Saltlux and Professor Haksoo Kim's team from Konkuk University participate, recorded an F1 score of 75.0 on the TACRED leaderboard for the entity relation extraction task released by Stanford University. It ranked second overall, surpassing globally prominent AI research institutes and organizations such as Princeton University, the University of Washington, and Meta AI (formerly Facebook AI Research).


Subsequently, in the Re-TACRED Benchmarks competition, which improved the error data of TACRED Benchmarks, it achieved a high score of 91.4 points and rose to first place. It was selected as SOTA (State Of The Art), indicating the highest performance of AI models in the field.


Exobrain is a representative domestic research and development (R&D) project initiated to strengthen the future competitiveness of the nation and companies in the field of artificial intelligence. It aims to develop domestic AI software capable of practical communication with humans and intellectual cooperation in decision-making.


Saltlux, which is in charge of the second sub-project of the project, conducted joint research for the task ‘WiseKB: Development of Big Data Understanding-Based Self-Learning Knowledge Base and Reasoning Technology’ together with leading domestic universities and global companies including Konkuk University, Kyung Hee University, Hanyang University, KAIST, Basis Technology, and Cycorp. Commercialization is currently being accelerated.


A Saltlux official said, “This result is a valuable achievement made by the best domestic researchers working together with the goal of securing autonomy in Korea’s AI industry through the development of core technologies,” and added, “We will continue to strive to strengthen the global competitiveness of the AI industry and technological innovation.”
