[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] Hyun Geun-taek, spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Korea's election committee, stated that "the contest between Kim Jong-in and Lee Hae-chan will overwhelmingly result in a victory for former leader Lee Hae-chan."

In an interview on the night of the 13th with YTN Radio's 'Lee Dong-hyung's News Face-off,' Spokesperson Hyun said, "One's own election and another's election are 100% different. There is a difference between someone who has run and won their own election and someone who has only coached others' elections."

Responding to the host's remark that "People from the People Power Party say 'Inattang' (meaning 'Thank you if Lee Hae-chan runs')," he dismissed it by saying, "That is their opinion."

He continued, "Some view it as a contest between Kim Jong-in and Lee Hae-chan, but since the 13th general election in 1988 when Lee ran against Kim Jong-in in Gwanak District, he has never lost," adding, "Afterwards, Kim Jong-in has only run as a proportional representative and has never run his own election."

When asked, "Following former Roh Moo-hyun Foundation Chairman Yoo Si-min, former leader Lee Hae-chan appeared on broadcasts to support candidate Lee Jae-myung. Do you think this will be a plus alpha?" he replied, "Yes."

Spokesperson Hyun said, "On the opposing side, Lee Jun-seok, Kim Jong-in, and Jin Joong-kwon have been speaking out for some time, and there are many prominent voices like Geum Tae-seop and Lee Soo-jung," adding, "In that case, the appearance of Chairman Yoo Si-min or former leader Lee Hae-chan not only helps consolidate the support base but also delivers a clear message, which is important."

He added, "Messages need to be delivered moment by moment, and there has been some concern that this aspect has been somewhat weak," and predicted, "I believe that former leader Lee and writer Yoo will sufficiently play roles in setting the overall framework and maintaining the center."
