[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Dae-seok) announced on the 13th that it has additionally installed a ‘Women’s Safety Parcel Locker’ at Exit 1 of Uncheon Station.
The Women’s Safety Parcel Locker, which has been in operation since 2017, provides convenience to residents who live alone or find it difficult to receive parcels at home.
It is also praised for preventing crimes impersonating delivery workers in advance and contributing to the establishment of a local community safety network.
The Women’s Safety Parcel Lockers installed by Seo-gu so far are located at ▲Sangmu Kumho Health Life Support Center ▲Hwajeong 4-dong Administrative Welfare Center ▲Ssangchon-dong May Children’s Park ▲Exit 4 of Ssangchon Station, and with this additional installation, the total number has reached five locations.
The usage method is not much different from general parcel delivery; when applying for delivery, simply write the address of the safety parcel locker as the receiving location.
The delivery worker places the item in the parcel locker and sends the locker number and authentication code to the applicant’s mobile phone, and the applicant enters the authentication code to retrieve the parcel.
The service is free and available 24 hours a day to anyone, but a storage fee of 1,000 KRW per day is charged if the item is stored for more than 48 hours.
A Seo-gu official said, “The newly installed safety parcel locker system combines an unmanned parcel locker function with an emergency bell connected to 112 and 119 and a security CCTV, so residents are expected to conveniently use it when getting off the subway.”
