[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] It has been revealed that a man accused of adopting 19 dogs, including poodles, brutally abusing and killing them, and illegally burying their bodies, was dismissed from his position at a public enterprise where he was employed.

A public enterprise official where A (41), accused of dog abuse and killing, works said in a phone interview with Financial News on the 11th, "A has been dismissed from his position and is currently not coming to work."

According to Gunsan Police Station on the 6th, A is under investigation for adopting 19 dogs, including poodles, torturing and killing them, and abandoning their bodies.

A, who resides in Gunsan, Jeonbuk, adopted dogs from various regions nationwide, including Seoul and Gyeonggi, starting in March. It is understood that he brutally tortured the adopted dogs by methods such as burning them with fire or submerging them in water to suffocate them, and then buried their bodies in the apartment flowerbed.

The police previously applied for an arrest warrant for A on the 3rd, but it was dismissed on the grounds of "no risk of flight or evidence tampering." During the police investigation, A reportedly claimed "mental incompetence" and "mental illness" as motives for the crime.
