"Opposition: When Will You Pass the Bill... Irresponsible Agitation Politics Must Stop Immediately"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] Jang Hye-young, a member of the Justice Party, criticized the People Power Party, which mentioned party-level re-amendment regarding the so-called 'n-bunbang Prevention Act' (Amendments to the Telecommunications Business Act and the Information and Communications Network Act) aimed at preventing the distribution of digital sexual crime materials, calling it "the height of irresponsibility."
On the 12th, Jang posted on her Facebook with the title "People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok and presidential candidate Yoon Seok-youl should immediately stop irresponsible inflammatory politics that forget the basics of party politics," expressing this view.
Earlier, on the 10th, with the enforcement of the 'n-bunbang Prevention Act,' internet operators such as Kakao and Naver began operating 'filtering functions' to block illegal filming materials distributed online through mobile messengers, social networking services (SNS), and internet communities. In response to this measure, Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, and Yoon Seok-youl, the party's presidential candidate, argued that it could infringe on communication freedom and announced plans to pursue party-level re-amendment.
Jang said, "As soon as the 'n-bunbang Prevention Act' was enforced, leader Lee Jun-seok and candidate Yoon Seok-youl once again engaged in inflammatory politics, backed by male-dominated community public opinion," adding, "When the bill was passed with the support of many of their party members near the end of the 20th National Assembly, they were silent, but now they are engaging in vague inflammatory rhetoric without specific details, claiming 'angry public opinion' while evading responsibility."
She continued, "It is like spitting on my own face," raising her voice, "No matter how inexperienced the party leader and presidential candidate are in the legislature, they do not even understand that responsibility for a law passed jointly by the ruling and opposition parties should be shared. I cannot understand what kind of politics they intend to pursue."
Furthermore, she said, "According to leader Lee Jun-seok, the People Power Party lawmakers who passed the bill at that time should be the first to be asked for explanations at the party level because the standards were vague, it infringed on communication freedom, and the law was ineffective. However, neither leader Lee nor candidate Yoon has uttered a single word about this," adding, "This is truly the height of irresponsibility."
Additionally, Jang emphasized, "There is no perfect law in the world. The n-bunbang Prevention Act is no exception. At a discussion held a few days ago with Kwon In-sook, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, reflecting on the one-year anniversary of the enactment of the n-bunbang Prevention Act, many opinions were raised about the need for supplementary legislation," stressing, "What is necessary to safely protect our citizens from digital sexual violence and to balance the legal interests of protecting communication privacy and protecting citizens from digital sexual violence is responsible deliberative politics."
