[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will conduct winter education facility safety inspections until the 22nd.
This safety inspection is an annual event carried out to prevent school safety accidents during the winter season and to minimize damage to educational facilities in the event of a disaster.
The inspection targets include ▲ public and private kindergartens, elementary, middle, high, special, and various schools within the province, as well as institutions affiliated with the Provincial Office of Education ▲ regional education support offices ▲ lifelong education facility buildings and structures including temporary school buildings (modular) ▲ small-scale buildings with a total floor area of 100㎡ or less.
The safety inspection is conducted by inspection teams composed of facility managers from each institution performing self-inspections. However, external experts participate in inspecting winter disaster-vulnerable facilities and temporary school buildings.
Winter disaster-vulnerable facilities refer to structures rated D or E in safety grades that pose structural safety risks, facilities at risk of collapse, fire, or heavy snowfall, new or extension construction sites, and other facilities with high concerns for natural disasters and disaster damage during winter.
The inspection items include ▲ safety management status ▲ facility safety ▲ necessity for repair or reinforcement. If any risk factors are found during self-inspections or joint public-private inspections, the managing entity must immediately take corrective action.
Serious defects or risk factors that are difficult to correct on-site must be subject to emergency repair, reinforcement, or usage restrictions, and a detailed inspection must be requested from a specialized safety diagnosis institution.
Lee Seung-ho, Director of the Educational Environment Improvement Division at the Gyeonggi Office of Education, emphasized, "The Office of Education registers the safety inspection results in the School Facility Integrated Information System to comprehensively manage the safety status of educational facilities and follow-up measures. We will do our best to create a safe educational environment through thorough safety inspections and post-management."
