[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] The Seocho District Council (Chairperson Kim Ansook) held an event on the 10th in front of the main assembly hall to create gift sets to be delivered to local children's centers in celebration of Christmas.
The Seocho District Council operates a volunteer activity called ‘Council Go (go·鼓)’ where council members actively share warmth with the community and help neighbors in need. To bring warmth to the local community enduring an even colder winter due to COVID-19, this time they planned an event for children.
Ahead of Christmas, the day children look forward to most throughout the year, 14 council members wrapped surprise gifts to be sent to nine local children's centers within Seocho District. The gifts were prepared by saving the operating expenses of the chairperson and standing committee chairs, and consisted of character stationery sets that children like, specially packaged in Christmas bags.
The gift sets personally wrapped by the council members will be delivered to 220 vulnerable children living at Bangbae Happy Dream Center, Seocho Local Children's Center, Big Love Study Room, Yeouikan Local Children's Center, Hana Welfare Local Children's Center, Umyeon Happy Dream Center, Jump Local Children's Center, Umyeon Local Children's Center, and Gangnam Local Children's Center.
Chairperson Kim Ansook said, “Although the gifts are small, we prepared them with the hope that our children can spend a somewhat warm year-end,” and added, “I hope Seocho becomes a place where people can share warmth with each other during difficult times.”
