In Gwangju, 'Infection Route Unknown' Cases Continue... 29 Confirmed Cases as of 6 PM on the 9th

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] In Gwangju, the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases with unidentified infection routes continues steadily.


According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 9th, as of 6 p.m. that day, 29 people were confirmed positive, classified as cases number 6661 to 6689.


Fourteen of them voluntarily got tested after showing symptoms. Another six are part of a chain infection from contact with confirmed cases whose infection routes are under investigation.


Among them, one person was identified as a medical staff member at a university hospital, and quarantine authorities are conducting on-site risk assessments and epidemiological investigations.


Additionally, there are three cases related to exercise groups from other regions, two related to confirmed cases from other cities and provinces, one related to a leisure gathering in Dong-gu, one related to a nursing hospital in Buk-gu, one related to a nursing hospital in Gwangsan-gu, and one related to an elementary school in Seo-gu.


Since the index patient who held a meeting at golf courses in Buk-gu, Damyang, and Hwasun was confirmed positive on the 6th, a total of 17 confirmed cases have occurred related to this infection route.


Also, a total of 51 cases have emerged related to the leisure gathering in Dong-gu.


After a kindergarten student in Nam-gu who had contact with a confirmed case from Jeonbuk tested positive, quarantine authorities conducted a full investigation of 152 people, including 140 students and 12 staff members.


Quarantine authorities plan to decide the scope of self-quarantine and other measures based on the results of the epidemiological investigation.
