2021 Mutual Respect Excellent Management Award, Good Policy Sector with Women

Daegu City 'Women UP Expo' Wins Good Policy Award Daegu City was honored with the "Good Policy Award for Working with Women" at the 24th "2021 Good Management Award for Mutual Respect."

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Daegu City received the ‘Good Policy Award for Women’ at the 24th ‘2021 Good Management Award for Mutual Respect’.


The ‘Good Management Award for Mutual Respect’ is held to encourage a culture of mutual respect and collaboration, strengthen the competitiveness of companies and organizations, and spread a culture of mutual respect in Korean society.


First established in 1998 and now in its 24th year, the event is hosted by Women’s Newspaper and W Economic Research Institute, and supported by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, Ministry of Employment and Labor, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, Korea Women Entrepreneurs Association, and Korea Federation of Women Managers.


This year’s selected good policy, the ‘2021 WomenUP Expo,’ is a women’s policy fair held by the city for six years to promote women’s rights and realize a gender-equal society.


At last month’s expo, a women’s policy theme hall was operated with seven themes including gender equality, women’s safety, healthy families, childbirth and childcare, promoting various policy contents and raising citizens’ interest in gender equality policies.


The city supported the job-seeking activities of over 2,400 women by holding a Women’s Happiness Job Fair, and promoted events such as the Whole Family Love Festival and Work-Life Balance Empathy Talk Concert both online and offline, allowing many citizens to participate.


The city received this award in recognition of promoting gender equality policies at the expo and strengthening economic activities by helping women with career interruptions to re-enter employment.


Kang Myungsook, Director of the Women and Youth Education Bureau, said, “We will do our best to realize a practical gender-equal society through good policies of mutual respect and to expand the economic participation of local women.”
