Gwangju Nambu Fire Station Conducts Winter Water Rescue Training for Accident Preparedness


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jin-Hyung Park] Gwangju Nambu Fire Station (Chief Lee Jeong-ja) announced on the 9th that it conducted life rescue training to prepare for winter water accidents for 17 members of the Nambu Fire Station 119 Rescue Team.


The training, held over three days from December 7 to December 9 at the Nambu University Municipal International Swimming Pool, was organized to enhance the water rescue capabilities of the 119 rescue team members, enabling them to respond quickly to water accidents and carry out efficient rescue operations.


The training included ▲ underwater adaptation and underwater search and rescue technique training using diving equipment ▲ customized water rescue education according to seasonal environments ▲ theory and practice of freediving without equipment in emergency situations ▲ wearing methods for dry suits for winter water rescue, all conducted with strict adherence to safety protocols.


Go Jung-hyun, head of the 119 Disaster Response Team, said, “Winter water accidents, where unexpected situations frequently occur, require thorough prior training. Through regular water life rescue training, we will improve the rescue team members’ ability to respond to water accidents and do our best to protect the precious lives of citizens.”
