Education Superintendent Lee Jae-jung: "Students Aged 12 and Over Must Receive Additional Vaccine Doses" Gyeonggi Province Superintendent of Education Lee Jae-jeong is receiving an additional COVID-19 vaccination on the 9th.


[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-jung, Superintendent of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, has strongly urged students aged 12 and over in the province to receive additional COVID-19 vaccinations.


On the 9th, after receiving a COVID-19 booster shot at a clinic in Yeongtong-gu, Suwon, Superintendent Lee said, "Recently, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the metropolitan area has been reaching record highs day by day," adding, "The infection is spreading to age groups that have not been vaccinated, and since full in-person classes resumed, the number of student cases has rapidly increased, causing great concern."


He continued, "I ask parents to make efforts to ensure that students aged 12 and over receive all their vaccinations to protect their children's health, safety, and school education."


As of midnight on the 9th, there were 2,141 new confirmed cases in the province, including 326 students: 24 kindergarteners, 184 elementary school students, 86 middle school students, 31 high school students, and 1 special or other student.


Among student COVID-19 cases in the province, the proportion of third-year high school students was 13.38% before vaccination on July 7, but decreased monthly to 4.04% in August after vaccination.
