Sangju City 1195km, Best Road Management in Gyeongsangbuk-do... Selected as Excellent Institution for 2 Consecutive Years Sangju City Hall, Gyeongbuk.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Sangju City, Gyeongbuk, has been selected as an excellent institution for two consecutive years in the Gyeongsangbuk-do Autumn Road Maintenance Evaluation, following last year.

The Autumn Road Maintenance Evaluation inspects the overall road management status annually for 23 cities and counties within Gyeongbuk Province, including checking the road maintenance status by the road management authority, maintenance of road facilities due to summer typhoons and heavy rains, and winter snow removal preparedness.

The city manages a total road length of 1,195 km, including 2 delegated national highways, 2 provincial roads, 364 city and county roads, and 380 rural roads.

In the evaluation, the city was recognized for its achievements in road maintenance projects, and efforts to provide a pleasant road environment through pre-disaster prevention and snow removal work also received favorable reviews.

The city received the Governor's Commendation and a prize money of 2 million KRW, and will represent the province in the Central Joint Road Maintenance Evaluation hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

The city plans to undergo an on-site evaluation by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport this month and will do its best in road management to continue the honor of being selected as the best basic local government nationwide last year in the city and county road maintenance field.

Mayor Kang Young-seok said, “We achieved good results by faithfully carrying out our duties,” and added, “We will make further efforts to create a pleasant road environment and focus on snow removal work to prevent vehicle congestion and traffic accidents caused by snow in winter.”
