[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-seop] On the 9th, the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation held the ‘2021 KDI Dream Tree Scholarship Award Ceremony’ at the KDI headquarters building in Jung-gu, Seoul.
KDI, in collaboration with the Community Chest of Korea and the Korea Association of Social Welfare Centers, awarded a total of 20 million KRW in Dream Tree Scholarships (1 million KRW per person) to 20 low-income high school students (academic achievers, arts and sports talents, and exemplary filial piety cases). The scholarship fund was sourced from voluntary donations by employees.
Since 2005, KDI has awarded scholarships totaling 237.4 million KRW to 250 students over 16 sessions through last year.
Park Sang-jin, a director of KDI who attended the scholarship award ceremony, said, “We hope the Dream Tree Scholarship will help students who strive academically despite difficult family circumstances,” and added, “We will continue to fulfill our social responsibility as a public institution by supporting socially vulnerable students.”
