Changwon City Signs International Friendship Agreement with Noida City, 'India IT Hub'

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] On the 8th, Changwon City in Gyeongnam signed an international friendship city agreement with Noida City of India via video conference at the Cupid Center of Changwon Convention Center.

Noida, the IT hub of India, is a city with a population of 630,000 located in Uttar Pradesh, India. Compared to other regions in India, it is noted for its cool climate as a resort area and is a satellite city of Delhi, which is expected to develop rapidly.

Recently, domestic companies such as Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics have built factories in Noida, and diplomatic and economic institutions such as embassies, KOTRA, and trade associations are concentrated there, actively facilitating the entry of companies in the Changwon area into the Indian market.

On this day, Mayor Heo Seong-mu discussed expanding economic exchanges over the two hours with Mayor Sanjeev Mittal and sought practical mutual cooperation measures, and also agreed to actively promote exchange and cooperation in the fields of Indian culture and arts.

The city sent Changwon's specialty products such as dried persimmon chips and dried persimmon juice to Noida in advance so that they could be tasted locally in India. Both cities held a meeting inviting major export companies and discussed ways to promote economic exchanges.

Mayor Heo said, "India is a key country in the New Southern Policy," adding, "We signed a friendship agreement with Noida, which has strengths in electronics, IT industry, and automobile sectors, for the steady development of the smart industrial city Changwon."
