[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] As the number of confirmed cases of the Omicron COVID-19 variant has increased to 38, health authorities announced that there have been no cases of severe or critical symptoms worsening among confirmed cases as well as suspected cases.


Park Young-jun, head of the epidemiological investigation team at the Central Disease Control Headquarters, said at a background briefing on the afternoon of the 8th, "Among the 56 reported (Omicron variant confirmed and suspected cases) so far, there are no severe or critical patients, and all should be understood as mild cases." He also stated that the maximum transmission generation of Omicron confirmed so far has been "confirmed up to the 4th generation."


The number of confirmed Omicron variant cases increased by 2 as of midnight on the day, bringing the total to 38. Among the epidemiologically linked suspected cases of Omicron variant infection that have been tested so far, all confirmed cases detected the Omicron variant. There are still 18 epidemiologically related individuals whose test results have not yet been released.
