KT Studio Genie Announces Winners of Web Novel and Webtoon Contest with StoryWiz

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT Studio Genie and StoryWiz announced the winners of the "1st Web Novel and Webtoon Contest for Video Adaptation," jointly hosted by the two companies.

On the 8th, the two companies revealed that they selected six works, including one grand prize and five excellence awards, based on criteria such as video adaptation potential, story completeness, and originality of themes and characters, regardless of whether the work was a web novel or webtoon. The grand prize winner receives 50 million KRW, and each excellence award winner receives 10 million KRW.

The grand prize was awarded to the romance web novel "Bichi Buseojimyeon" (When the Light Breaks) by author Ppalganmulbyeong. The concept combines a romance story with the genre appeal of a time-transcending joint investigation. Excellence awards went to the webtoon "Mubeopjaepan" (Lawless Trial) by author Kim Jeong-ho, the webtoon "Garyeojin Gieok" (Hidden Memory) by author 27sin, the web novel "Yeonae Sangtaechangi Boigi Sijakhaetda" (The Love Status Window Started to Appear) by author Itsse, the webtoon "Inhwan" by author Park Tae-hee, and the web novel "Spirits" by author Eollukbear.

All winning works from the contest will be offered serialization opportunities through contracts with StoryWiz for web novels and webtoons, and KT Studio Genie will give priority consideration for video adaptations such as dramas.

Kim Cheol-yeon, CEO of KT Studio Genie, said, "The contest is a valuable opportunity to discover diverse IPs and talented creators with potential," adding, "KT Studio Genie will continue to consider ways to nurture and support creators so that we can present KT’s unique original content."
