"Designated Compliance Officers in All Headquarters Teams and Sales Branches... Systematic Management of Anti-Corruption"

[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Lotte Duty Free announced on the 8th that it has become the first in the domestic duty-free industry to obtain the 'Anti-Bribery Management System ISO 37001' certification from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Lotte Duty Free stated, "Following the achievement of the 'Environmental Management System ISO 14001' certification last October through ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management, this accomplishment recognizes us as a model company that meets global standards in eco-friendly and ethical management." The certification ceremony was held on the 7th at Lotte Duty Free headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, attended by Lee Gap, CEO of Lotte Duty Free, and Song Kyung-soo, head of the British Standards Institution Korea branch (BSI KOREA).

ISO 37001, established by the International Organization for Standardization in 2016, is a global standard that prescribes preventive measures against corruption and bribery risks that may arise in corporate management activities and enables systematic management across the entire organization. The ISO grants certification after on-site audits, employee interviews, and document reviews focusing on establishing anti-corruption systems, organizational operations for legal compliance, and practical measures to eradicate corrupt practices.

During the audit process, Lotte Duty Free was highly evaluated for establishing an internal system to prevent corruption based on the strong will of top management, designating at least one compliance officer in each of the 35 headquarters teams and domestic sales branches, including a dedicated department, to ensure continuous monitoring. Furthermore, it was explained that compliance training is conducted so that employees can empathize with and practice anti-corruption policies for ethical management, and that a clean corporate culture is being fostered by encouraging the identification and evaluation of potential corrupt acts within the organization in advance.

Lee Gap, CEO of Lotte Duty Free, said, "This 'ISO 37001' certification is a significant achievement reflecting Lotte Duty Free's efforts to become a trusted company among customers and stakeholders. We will continue to create an ethical and transparent corporate environment together with all employees so that Lotte Duty Free can serve as a role model."

Additionally, Lotte Duty Free received an A grade in the Compliance Program (CP) evaluation conducted by the Fair Trade Commission in December 2019, the first in the duty-free industry, recognizing its operation of a voluntary compliance program and corporate culture of legal compliance. In March, it established the 'ESG Value Pursuit Committee' to ensure sustainable growth across all business sectors, introduced solar power generation facilities at its integrated logistics center, and continues various activities such as operating the 'LDF Startups' social contribution project to foster youth enterprises.
