Myocardial infarction and stroke are leading causes of death, and recognizing the symptoms and immediately calling 119 to receive treatment at a specialized cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease hospital is crucial for the patient's survival.

The representative symptoms of myocardial infarction include sudden chest pain, dizziness, cold sweat, nausea, and difficulty breathing, while stroke symptoms include sudden paralysis of one arm or leg, speech impairment, and facial paralysis.

According to the 2020 Community Health Survey, the symptom recognition rate for myocardial infarction in Gyeongbuk was 47.1%, and for stroke, it was 55.4%, which is lower compared to other provinces.

Park Heonsik, director of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Regional Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease Center, said, "By distributing the 'Understanding Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Diseases' calendar to village community centers in vulnerable areas of Gyeongbuk, we aim to inform about the prevention and management of myocardial infarction and stroke, raise awareness and vigilance about cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, reduce the mortality rate from these diseases in Daegu and Gyeongbuk, and do our best for the health of local residents."
