Sporadic Infection Spread Continues in Gwangju, Including 'Ta-Jiyeok Exercise Groups'

46 Confirmed Cases as of 6 PM on the 7th

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Sporadic local infections continue in Gwangju, including exercise gatherings from other regions.

According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 7th, as of 6 p.m. that day, 46 people were confirmed positive for COVID-19, classified as cases 6568 to 6613.

Among them, 10 were confirmed cases related to golf gatherings from other regions.

The index case was confirmed infected after testing the previous day and is known to have met with acquaintances at three golf courses in Gwangju, Hwasun, and Damyang.

Regarding the Buk-gu logistics center, where cases were identified the previous day and a full investigation was initiated, 5 people tested positive. A confirmed case who worked in delivery was also identified, and health authorities are conducting an epidemiological investigation.

Additionally, 3 cases are related to a middle school in Gwangsan-gu, 2 cases to a nursing hospital in Gwangsan-gu, 1 case to a daycare center in Gwangsan-gu, 2 cases to a leisure gathering in Dong-gu, 3 cases related to confirmed cases from other cities and provinces, and 11 cases related to existing confirmed cases. Nine cases were identified through symptomatic testing.

Meanwhile, an octogenarian confirmed case who was receiving treatment at Chosun University Hospital died around 5 p.m. the previous day. This is the 32nd death in the Gwangju area.

According to COVID-19 funeral guidelines, cremation will be conducted before the funeral. Funeral expenses will be fully covered by the national government.
