[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine (Director Lee Jin-ho) announced on the 7th that it has invented a device related to Chuna therapy that allows patients to directly verify the effects before and after treatment through a screen, and has obtained a patent for it.
The device that received the patent is named "Posture Comparison Device and Method Showing Comparative Postures Before and After Chuna Therapy Treatment."
Chuna therapy is a traditional manual therapy in which a Korean medicine doctor uses their hands and parts of their body to push and pull the patient's misaligned bones, ligaments, and muscles to correct them. Since 2019, the Ministry of Health and Welfare has approved health insurance coverage for Chuna therapy. Through this, many musculoskeletal patients suffering from conditions such as disc (intervertebral disc) disease, spinal stenosis, and back pain have benefited.
However, Chuna therapy patients had the disadvantage of being unable to visually confirm the correction effects before and after treatment, relying solely on the doctor's explanation. The posture comparison device for before and after Chuna therapy was developed to resolve this issue. It captures the patient's condition in real-time before and after treatment so that the patient can directly verify the treatment effects.
Dr. Shin Joon-sik, founder of Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine, said, "Patients have the right to receive the best medical care as well as the right to clearly understand the treatment methods they receive," adding, "Going forward, Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine will continue to find improvements and make enhancements to become a more patient-centered Korean medical institution providing medical services."
