[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] SAMG Entertainment (hereinafter SAMG) announced on the 7th that its animation toy series "Catch! Tinyping" ranked first in popular products on the online toy channels Coupang and Gmarket.
According to the November popularity rankings by major distributors announced last week, the "Catch! Tinyping" toys ranked first in the doll category on Coupang and first in the character & fashion doll category on Gmarket, respectively.
Additionally, the company added that the toys proved their high popularity by ranking first in the girls' toy category at offline toy specialty store Seungjin Toys in November and placing in the top 5 in the toy category at Lotte Mart's TOYSRUS.
Since the launch of "Catch! Tinyping" toys in April last year, SAMG has sold over 2.7 million units to date, and SAMG plans to release an additional Season 2 toy series within this year and will actively target the overseas toy market next year.
Kim Suhoon, CEO of SAMG, said, "From the IP conception stage, 'Catch! Tinyping' was planned to allow enjoyment of both animation and toys simultaneously, and we did our best to capture the vivid expressions and appearances of various characters in the toys," adding, "Since the original animation is also gaining high popularity on global content platforms such as Netflix, we expect to achieve great results in overseas markets next year."
