Damyang-gun Offers 10% Discount on Environmental Improvement Charges for Annual Prepayment

Payment Period Open Until February 3 for Approximately 5,000 Participants

[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 7th, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will implement the ‘Environmental Improvement Charge Annual Prepayment System’ to reduce the burden on payees and promote voluntary payment awareness.

The Environmental Improvement Charge Annual Prepayment System offers a 10% discount if the charge, which is usually paid twice a year in March and September, is applied for and paid all at once in January.

The eligible applicants are approximately 5,000 vehicle owners whose vehicles were released before July 2012. Applications can be made by calling the Damyang-gun Ecological Environment Division or online (Wetax) by February 3 of next year.

Existing annual prepayment applicants without changes in vehicle ownership will receive a discounted annual prepayment notice with a 10% discount in January next year without a separate application. Taxpayers who receive the notice can pay through ▲bank CD/ATM machines ▲Internet Giro ▲virtual accounts ▲Wetax ▲credit cards, etc.

The payment period is from January 16 to February 3 of next year. If payment is not made within the period, the 10% discount benefit cannot be received, and the regular tax amount must be paid in March and September.

A county official said, “Through the Environmental Improvement Charge Annual Prepayment System, payees receive a 10% discount, and the county can secure early tax revenue and increase collection rates,” adding, “We hope many residents actively utilize the annual prepayment system.”
