[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Kim Jong-in, the overall election committee chairman of the People Power Party, expressed confidence in presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol, saying, "Isn't it time to elect a president next year whom we can truly be proud of to anyone?"

Chairman Kim delivered the keynote speech at the 'National Vision Symposium' held on the 7th at the Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul, stating, "There is talk of a moment of the stars. The person who captured and appeared at such a moment is candidate Yoon."

He continued, "For this person to truly meet the moment of the stars and utilize it properly, I believe preparation is needed to properly design the future of the Republic of Korea and place it on a solid foundation," adding, "After much consideration, I decided to take on the position of election committee chairman for candidate Yoon, wondering if I could try once more."

Regarding candidate Yoon, he said, "He has no political experience," and added, "A new person can vigorously do new things, can't he?" He also said, "While serving as Prosecutor General, he showed courageous support to uphold his convictions against power, which made me think he is someone capable of contributing to eradicating the pressing issues."

In his speech that day, Chairman Kim quoted from Robert William Fogel's book The Fourth Awakening, emphasizing that choosing the right leader is essential for national development. He said, "The three presidents who built today's America?the first president George Washington, who contributed to forming a unified nation, Abraham Lincoln, and President Theodore Roosevelt in the 1990s, who renewed the American economic structure to make it the world's number one country," and argued, "If our country's first president had resembled American President George Washington, the history of the Republic of Korea would have been different."

He also criticized, saying, "Our country has 73 years of government history. Reflecting on our past presidents and leaders, I think they each played their roles well, but ultimately, South Korea is a country where there is not a single happy former president."

Furthermore, mentioning the country's high birthrate and poverty rate, he reiterated the importance of leadership, saying, "Without innovation that brings changes to the economic structure, education system, labor system, and diplomatic capabilities, we cannot continuously develop as an advanced country."
