[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, trainee reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency on the 7th launched a strict response to illegal activities, including the arrest of four protesters obstructing the replacement and installation work of the Air Force radar at Jangsan, Haeundae, Busan, promoted by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, and the transport vehicles.
The police carried out a suppression operation against village residents and some civic group members who obstructed the replacement work along the transport vehicle route of the radar on that day.
The police regarded the protest as an unreported illegal assembly and clashed with the protesters who attempted to occupy the road through which the vehicle procession was passing.
After issuing dispersal orders three times and receiving no compliance, the police arrested four protesters on the spot.
The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency stated that it has launched an investigation under the Assembly and Demonstration Act and other related laws and plans to take additional legal action against the ringleaders and other participants involved in illegal activities.
