[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] The Jangseong Police Station in Jeonnam (Chief Bae Seung-gwan) announced on the 7th that it recently conducted a 'Traffic Safety Campaign' at Jungang Elementary School to prevent traffic accidents involving children.
The campaign was held with a minimal number of participants including police officers, school staff, exemplary drivers, and Green Mothers members due to COVID-19, and was conducted in compliance with quarantine guidelines such as social distancing.
They distributed flyers and other promotional materials related to the full ban on parking and stopping in school zones (implemented on October 21) and carried out publicity activities to prohibit illegal parking and stopping and to promote compliance with traffic laws.
On-site inspections of traffic safety facilities around the school were also conducted to create a safe route for children going to and from school.
The Jangseong Police plan to designate boarding and alighting zones and allow limited parking and stopping within the protection zone to minimize inconvenience caused by school vehicles during commuting hours, and they requested cooperation from parents.
A representative from the Jangseong Police Station said, "We hope all citizens prioritize child protection," and added, "We will continue to make efforts through joint campaigns with related organizations and improvements to traffic safety facilities to create a traffic environment where children are safe."
