“T map as a Comprehensive Mobility Platform,” Adds Kickboard Rental and Cargo Truck Exclusive Navigation

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] T map Mobility is evolving from a navigation service to a comprehensive mobility platform encompassing various modes of transportation.

On the 7th, T map Mobility announced a complete overhaul of T map's user experience (UX) and declared 2022 as the inaugural year for its leap into a 'comprehensive mobility platform.'

With this UX revamp, the application’s top section now suggests various context-appropriate transportation options such as designated driver service, kickboards, rental cars (planned), and parking (planned), establishing a framework for personalized experiences through customized messages.

The bottom tabs have been changed to Home, ‘T Jigeum’ (T Now) which shows real-time trending locations, ‘Driving Life,’ and ‘MY Structure.’ While the Home tab allows users to experience various transportation modes, the T Jigeum tab recommends location rankings based on real-time data. Through recommendations based on actual usage history, the service connects all experiences from planning, exploring, traveling, to arrival.

The Driving Life tab offers useful additional services for drivers beyond navigation. Users can access various car-related lifestyle features such as driving habits, vehicle maintenance, business trip car wash, and selling their car.

The MY tab at the bottom right is designed to manage mobility experiences. It prominently displays profile, menu, and service areas. By setting up a profile, users can access personalized services and content. For example, by configuring settings according to their situation, such as freight trucks or electric vehicles, users receive tailored search results and customized route guidance.

Starting today, T map has also added the kickboard rental service ‘T map Kickboard.’ Without the need to install and sign up for multiple kickboard company apps, users can check and use shared kickboards from various brands nearby through T map alone. This is the first integrated kickboard service in Korea.

Available kickboards include Zicooter (Zibike) and Ssingssing (PUMP), with plans to expand partnerships in the future. Users can rent immediately after a simple registration process (license registration and agreement to partner terms) without separate membership registration on T map. Usage fees are automatically charged to the payment method registered in T map Payment upon completion of use.

For the entire month, usage fees are discounted by 50%, and all customers using T map Kickboard for the first time will receive a Starbucks gifticon. To promote proper kickboard usage culture, T map Mobility will install a total of 2,000 helmets?1,000 each on Zibike and PUMP kickboards.

A dedicated navigation system for freight trucks will also be introduced. By registering the vehicle profile as a freight truck without separate payment or subscription, users can receive route guidance specialized for freight trucks. After a beta service and stabilization period, a more refined service will be provided. Features include route guidance considering total vehicle weight and height, and specialized location guidance such as freight truck rest areas.

Next year, integrated T map parking, a new research lab section, and rental car launch are planned. The research lab will showcase T map Mobility’s new technologies such as drowsiness driving prevention functions, next-generation intelligent transportation systems (C-iTS), and tunnel location positioning technology using various sensors.

Jongho Lee, CEO of T map Mobility, said, “The transformation of T map is significant in establishing a foundation that flexibly expands services and allows access not only to drivers but also to non-driver customers.” He added, “In addition to T map’s strength in driver services, we will expand service experiences centered on non-drivers such as public transportation and shuttles to become an innovative platform proposing optimal mobility.”
