[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] On the 6th, the Ministry of Science and ICT announced that it held a talk concert titled 'We Can Do It Too' at the KT Daejeon Talent Development Center to share information, motivate, and enhance major knowledge for students from four Software Meister High Schools nationwide regarding employment.
Software Meister High Schools, which cultivate talent tailored to the industrial demand in the software field, operate four schools nationwide (Daedeok, Daegu, Gwangju, Busan). The talk concert was conducted by connecting the main center (Daejeon), where lecturers and some students gathered, with the four Software Meister High Schools (Daedeok, Daegu, Gwangju, Busan) online under the theme 'Advice from Seniors for SW Developer Competency and Successful Employment.'
The event consisted of ▲‘Expert Lectures’ (Communication, Fintech) ▲‘Graduate Vlogs’ showing the lives of Software Meister High School alumni as developers, and ▲a ‘Talk Concert’ where graduates and current employees of companies listened to students’ concerns and provided advice through communication.
The first speaker of the event was Ji-ye Kim, Director of Job Planet, who offered warm advice on workplace communication to help students adapt well after employment. Following her, Sang-min In, a developer at Viva Republica, gave a lecture on the fintech field, which has recently attracted much interest from students.
Additionally, developers who graduated from Software Meister High Schools and are currently working at ‘Woowa Brothers’ and ‘Danal’ introduced their companies and their lives as developers. A graduate who founded ‘lukas IT’ after graduation showed a day in the life of a startup CEO. The Ministry of Science and ICT reported that the confident activities of these seniors in society provided great motivation to the students.
During the talk concert, which included current software company developers and Software Meister High School alumni, students asked many questions about employment and major knowledge that they had been curious about, such as “Do you have any know-how for writing project proposals well?”, “What development languages are mainly used in companies?”, and “What are the essential qualities students must have for employment?”
Jeong-sam Kim, Director of Software Policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, “The timely education reflecting the industrial field trends of Software Meister High Schools greatly contributes to producing excellent talent who will lead Korea’s software industry,” and added, “We will continue to provide active support to nurture talent capable of leading software not only domestically but also globally.”
