[AKYUNG Poll] President Moon's Approval Rating Recovers to 40%

[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] President Moon Jae-in's approval rating for his administration has recovered to the 40% range.

On the 7th, Asia Economy commissioned Win-G Korea Consulting to conduct a public opinion survey targeting 1,012 voters aged 18 and older nationwide from the 4th to the 5th. The survey (100% mobile phone virtual numbers, automated response) found that 42% of respondents believe President Moon is performing well in his duties (24.6% very well, 17.4% generally well). Negative evaluations accounted for 54.4% (16.7% generally poorly, 37.8% very poorly).

Compared to the previous survey (conducted on the 20th-21st of last month), positive evaluations increased by 2.3%, while negative evaluations decreased by 2.7%.

Looking at the support base, women showed stronger support than men, and among those in their 40s, positive evaluations stood at 56.7%, significantly surpassing negative evaluations at 39%. Conversely, among those in their 20s, positive evaluations were 27.4%, and negative evaluations were 67.2%, marking the lowest approval rating for the administration.

By region, the Honam area was the only one where positive evaluations exceeded negative evaluations.

This survey was conducted by Asia Economy through Win-G Korea Consulting from the 4th to the 5th, targeting voters aged 18 and older nationwide, with 1,012 respondents and an overall response rate of 7.3%. The survey method was wireless ARS using 100% mobile phone virtual numbers. The sample was extracted using weighted values (cell weighting) by gender, age, and region based on the resident registration population as of the end of January 2021 from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. The sampling error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
