According to health authorities, Seoul city, and other local governments, from midnight to 6 p.m. on the 6th, a total of 2,594 people tested positive for COVID-19 across 17 cities and provinces nationwide. This is 283 more than the 2,311 cases reported nationwide at 6 p.m. the previous day.
With time remaining until midnight, when the daily tally closes, the number of new confirmed cases announced at midnight on the 7th is expected to increase further.
New confirmed cases were reported as 1,634 (63.0%) in the metropolitan area and 960 (37.0%) in non-metropolitan areas.
By city and province, the numbers are as follows: Seoul 850, Gyeonggi 570, Incheon 214, Busan 151, North Gyeongsang 124, Daegu 114, South Chungcheong 111, Gangwon 86, South Gyeongsang 75, Daejeon 66, North Chungcheong 60, Jeju 56, South Jeolla 42, Gwangju 38, North Jeolla 35, Ulsan and Sejong 1 each.
The number of new confirmed cases reported daily over the past week since the 30th of last month were 3,032 → 5,122 → 5,265 → 4,944 → 5,352 → 5,127 → 4,325, averaging about 4,738 cases per day. The average daily number of locally transmitted cases is approximately 4,710.
