Gyeongnam Province Selected as an Excellent Institution in the '2021 Medical Aid Project Evaluation'

Tongyeong-si, Geoje-si, Uiryeong-gun, and Goseong-gun also selected

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 6th that Gyeongnam Province and four cities/counties (Tongyeong, Geoje, Uiryeong, Goseong) were selected as excellent institutions in the '2021 Medical Aid Project Evaluation' hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and one medical aid manager from Tongyeong City was selected as a meritorious person.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare discovers and rewards excellent institutions and meritorious persons annually through project operation evaluations to boost the morale of medical aid project workers and to solidify the system operation.

This evaluation focused on case management of medical aid recipients, long-term hospitalization management, stabilization of case managers' work, and appropriateness of medical aid financial management from July last year to June this year.

Gyeongsangnam-do was selected as an excellent institution among metropolitan local governments for receiving favorable evaluations in systematically managing long-term hospitalized patients by promoting non-face-to-face joint mediation based on a close cooperation system with cities/counties, nursing hospitals, and the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service.

Among basic local governments, Tongyeong City, Geoje City, Uiryeong County, and Goseong County were selected as excellent institutions, achieving the greatest number of awards nationwide.

In addition, Kim Young-nam, a medical aid manager from Tongyeong City, was recognized as a meritorious person for contributing to the efficient management of medical aid finances by improving self-health capabilities through individual case management for excessive medical aid users and long-term hospitalized patients and inducing proper medical use.

Kwon Yang-geun, Director of the Welfare and Health Bureau, said, "Next year, we will strengthen the substance of the project to induce reasonable medical use by medical aid recipients," and added, "We will activate preventive health management projects suitable for local conditions in cooperation with cities and counties."
